Pheasant Run Gears up for Country’s Hottest Party with Gretchen Wilson and John Rich
Now that Valentines Day is over, clear your calendar for Country’s Hottest Party at Pheasant Run in St. Charles. Country music mega star and Illinois native, Gretchen Wilson along with John Rich, from Big & Rich, Cowboy Troy and Jeffery Steele will take the stage at the West suburban resort’s Mega Center, February 28, 2009.
Wilson, from Pocahontas, Illinois, (271 miles Southwest of Chicago) changed the face of country music in 2004 with her debut hit single, “Redneck Woman”, from the album titled Here for the Party. At that time, Wilson was the first woman to grace the top country music charts in almost two years. Today, Wilson’s popular music is a mix of party songs like, “You Don’t Have to Go Home” and “All Jacked Up” to songs like “Come to Bed,” a duet with John Rich, from her latest album, One of the Boys, released in 2007.
John Rich, best known for his half of the mega duo, Big & Rich, turned heads in Nashville when the duo released tracks like “Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy” and “Comin’ to your City.” Today, Rich is about to debut his first solo album since forming Big & Rich. One of his first singles of the album, “Shuttin’ Detroit Down,” is quickly sweeping the nation by storm. “Shuttin’ Detroit Down illustrates real-world problems facing working-class Americans today. With lyrics like, “DC’s bailing out them bankers as Farmer’s auction ground” and “Here in the real word, their shuttin’ Detroit down.” Rich’s single is quickly becoming the voice of today’s common man.
“This is a great opportunity to catch both Gretchen Wilson and John Rich together, on the same ticket,” said Diane Rosenthal, General Manager of Pheasant Run. “It sort of a semi-rare appearance to see John Rich perform solo and all of the acts have such great synergy together, it’s going to be a rocking party here at Pheasant Run. Who knows what to expect.”
Starting the party are Muzik Mafia staples, Cowboy Troy, (“I Play Chicken with the Train”) and Jeffery Steele, who’s writing credits include the Rascal Flatts tunes “My Wish”, “What Hurts Me Most”, “Me & My Gang” and their most recent number one hit, “Here”. Some of his other hits include Montgomery Gentry’s “Gone”, “My Town” and “Something to be Proud of”. Or you make know Steele from the television show, Nashville Star, where he judged.
