Las Vegas – Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert took top honors at the 45th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards. Underwood, the reigning Entertainer of the Year, is the only female to win the category twice the award’s 40 year history. In addition to her fan voted win for Entertainer of the Year, Underwood snagged the special Triple Crown Award, which is given to artists who has won for Top New Artist, Top Female Vocalist and Entertainer of the Year.
Miranda Lambert, with three wins, took home the Top Female Vocalist of the Year, Album of the Year for “Revolution” and Music Video of the Year for “White Liar”. While the Top Female Vocalist of the Year is her first win the category, Lambert picked up Album of the Year award in 2007 for her album, “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend”.
Opening the televised awards program, Underwood and Lambert join by Brad Paisley, Charlie Daniels and rock legend, John Fogerty, performed the Creedence Clearwater Revivial hit, “Travelin’ Band”.
The annual awards program, hosted by Reba McEntire, was televised live from the MGM Grand, Las Vegas on the CBS Television Network.
45th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards Recap:
Lady Antebellum picked up the Top Vocal Group of the Year, Single Record of the Year as producer for “Need You Now” and as a composer for Song of the Year for “Need You Now”.
Brad Paisley picked up his fourth consecutive win for Top Male Vocalist of the Year.
Brooks & Dunn received their 16th win in the Top Duo of the Year category. In addition, the duo was awarded with the Academy’s Milestone Award for their 20-plus year career in country music and will receive this honor during a special televised show titled, “Brooks & Dunn – The Last Rodeo”, which will air May 23 on the CBS Network. Earlier this year, Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn announced the retirement of the duo.
Top New Solo Vocalist of the Year, Luke Bryan, won the fan voted “Top New Artist of the Year” face-off against the Top New Vocal Duo of the Year, Joey + Rory and the Top New Vocal Group of the Year, Gloriana.
Blake Shelton and Trace Adkins took home a win for Vocal Event of the Year for their collaboration on Shelton’s song “Hillbilly Bone”
