Erin Edmister and The Three Tons

Hometown

Chicago, IL

About:

Erin Edmister was a farm boy from St. Louisville, Ohio. At 22, he rode out of Ohio in a beat up van, with $200, bound for Chicago. Tough town. In 2005, Erin met Kilian Sweeney, a lanky Texas transplant with a sharp fender sound. They made their way in and out of Chicago’s indie rock scene. In early 2009, between bands, Erin was playing a “buzzer bar” on Chicago’s south side. Kilian convinced him it was time for a new band that could back up his honest songwriting. With Bridgeport native, Ivan Stankowitz, in mind to play bass, they still needed a drummer. Erin had a slip of paper in his wallet with Dan Smykowski’s phone number that he’d been carrying around for months. He made the call. In the winter of 2009, 3 Tons started to develop a muscled sound with country roots and the hard drive of the city. There is no irony here. Straight ahead songs from the dark side of a country boy far from home.
