Country music’s favorite island hopper just opened a whole new set of doors here in Chicago. Literally. Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville Bar & Grill, the entertainer’s signature restaurant and bar chain, officially opened today in at Navy Pier. At 10 a.m., pier and restaurant officials cut the ribbon and downed a sacramental giant margarita in Buffett’s honor.
“I couldn’t be more excited about Margaritaville arriving on the shores of Lake Michigan,” said Jimmy Buffett. “From my earliest days in the city playing the Quiet Knight on Belmont, to the pinnacle of live performances singing in front of the ivy wall at Wrigley Field, I have had a long and wonderful history and affection for the people, the music, the art and the food of the Windy City. I have always thought Chicago as a beach town, a pretty big one, but still a beach town. I am happy to call Navy Pier home to Margaritaville. Fins Up Chicago.”
Seamlessly blending the tropics with a comfortable Chicago neighborhood bar, Margaritaville Bar & Grill offers a casual and laid back atmosphere in an intimate space, while its outdoor Tiki Bar will welcome guests from the boardwalk onto the weather protected outdoor deck. This is a great spot to take in the spectacular views, listen to live music and enjoy a meal or cocktails with family and friends.
While Mr. Buffett wasn’t personally around to bless the opening of his newest location, you can catch him at Toyota Park on July 23 in Bridgeview or head to the Pier on Wednesday for Buffett themed fireworks show.
