The 17th Annual Great Northern Bluegrass Festival set for March 18 – 20, 2011.
The Great Northern Bluegrass Festival will return to the Chicago area the weekend of March 18 – 20. Citing new digs for 2011, organizers of the suburban bluegrass festival announced the festival is set for an 8,800 square foot ballroom located in the Hyatt Regency Woodfield, Schaumburg, Ill.
While this festival is way more than your typical concert fest, organizers are boasting special Saturday night “headliner” of seven-time International Bluegrass Music Association female vocalist of the year winner, Rhonda Vincent. Other entertainment includes a host of local, and Illinois, entertainers as well as some handpicked imports from Kentucky and Missouri.
This festival is more than just about the concerts. Those interested in learning how to pick bluegrass style, several workshops, camps and instructional jam sessions are scheduled throughout the three-day festival. Learn jamming etiquette, fundamentals, back backup and chord changes by instructor Keith Yoder.
Admission fees range from $5 to $55 plus special hotel room rates are available for attendees. For more information on 2011 Great Northern Bluegrass Festival, call 217-243-3159 or visit bluegrassmidwest.com.
