Preview: Fall Album Releases

As autumn rapidly approaches, we’re gearing up for a season of many new country music CD releases by not only country music mainstays like George Strait, Martina McBride and LeAnn Rimes, but a few nods from a classic country performer and a sampling by some new artists.

Glen Campbell: “Ghost on the Canvas”
August, 30: Glen Campbell

On August 30, Glen Campbell will release his “Ghost on the Canvas” album. At 75 years old, this country icon was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer disease and in light of this recent diagnosis, continued to produced the album as well as prepare for a world-wind tour called “The Goodbye Tour”. Sound bytes indicate this is an extremely powerful album as Campbell bids goodbye after a lifelong career of more than 50 years in the business including more than 70 albums, countless awards and dozens of trophies. This CD is a sad one, a tearjerker but that classic Campbell voice makes the sadness fill with wonder at how he STILL sounds as classic and as powerful as he did 50 years ago.

George Strait: “Here for a Good Time”
September 6: George Strait

Texas troubadour George Strait is set to release the album “Here for a Good Time” on Sept. 6. This release will mark Strait’s 39th studio album. If the rest of the album is as upbeat and fun to listen to as the title track pre-released single, it’s a sure-bet that album will be a classic Strait compilation destined for the number one spot.

Brantley Gilbert: “Halfway to Heaven”
September 13: Brantley Gilbert

Newcomer Brantley Gilbert will release a deluxe edition to his “Halfway to Heaven” album on Sept. 13. Gilbert, raised with a small town upbringing that is often reflected in his songs, such as his recent release, “Country must be Country Wide”. Gilbert’s country lend a southern rock influence and his often referenced to non-country acts such as Mellencamp, Springsteen and Steve Earle.

Lady Antebellum: “Own the Night”
September 13: Lady Antebellum

Lady Antebellum’s upcoming release, “Own the Night” is due on Sept. 13 and if it’s anything like the prior two “Lady A” albums, there will be much fanfare surrounding this release. The much loved and incredibly popular trio is widely respected by both the country and soft-pop communities.

Writing 10 of the album’s 12 tracks, Charles Kelley, Dave Haywood and Hilary Scott, also co-producers of the upcoming album. Because of their extreme popularity and pop crossover appeal, this album is destined to be a best seller.

LeAnn Rimes: Lady and Gentleman
TBA: LeAnn Rimes

Originally set to be released Oct. 5, the date has been pushed back for LeAnn Rimes’ release of Lady and Gentleman The CD is expected out later this year but there is now no exact release date. The reason for the delay is the addition of two bonus tracks one of which includes a remake of her hit “Blue” recorded 15 years ago.

Martina McBride: “Eleven”
October 11: Martina McBride

Martina McBride will release her eleventh album titled “Eleven” on surprisingly Oct. 11. McBride, known for her amazing powerful voice, has earned numerous awards that attest to the fact that her voice is not only powerful and spectacular, it’s admirably one of a kind.
